E-commerce growth · United Kingdom

Growth that still looks good on the P&L.

You already have traffic, campaigns and suppliers. What is usually missing is one person who looks at all of it through the margin. I find where profit leaks between the ad, the product page and the second order — and my team fixes it.

In short: Waqas Ahmed Qureshi is a Lahore-based e-commerce growth strategist working with established UK online stores. He leads the strategy and his specialist team runs advertising, conversion and retention work, so one person is accountable for growth measured against margin, not just revenue.

A note before we talk

Most UK founders I meet don’t need more activity.

They have an agency for ads, a freelancer for email, a developer on retainer and a monthly report from each. Everyone is busy. Revenue is up. And yet the margin hasn’t moved, and nobody can say exactly why.

My job is to be the person who can. I look at the whole chain — the click, the product page, the delivery promise, the first order and the second — and decide what matters most this quarter. Then my team does the work, and you get a report that ends in a decision, not a dashboard.

What the UK market rewards

Five things we design every UK plan around.

01

Margin over volume

A cheaper click that brings a discount-hunting, one-time buyer can grow revenue and shrink profit. We plan against contribution, not ROAS alone.

02

A clear delivery promise

UK shoppers are used to fast, tracked delivery. A vague dispatch time on the product page costs orders before checkout ever loads.

03

Honest returns

Distance buyers have a 14-day right to cancel. Brands that explain returns clearly tend to convert better, not worse.

04

Proof that is checkable

Independent reviews and real product detail do more for a sceptical British buyer than any headline claim.

05

One accountable owner

Agencies optimise their own channel. Someone has to own the whole journey — that is the role I take.

Two-minute diagnostic

Where is your growth actually constrained?

Six quick questions. You get a preliminary read straight away — no email required.

What frustrates you most right now?

Roughly what do you spend on ads each month?

Who runs your advertising today?

How has revenue moved over the last 12 months?

What share of orders come from returning customers?

How confident are you in your conversion tracking?

Choose the one closest to yours — the plan changes with it.

The plateau

Selling well, growing slowly

You have product-market fit and loyal customers, but growth has flattened and acquisition costs keep creeping up.

The answer is rarely more spend. It is usually a sharper offer, better product pages and a retention engine that makes each customer worth more.

Usual constraintRising CPA, flat repeat rate

The shift

Moving customers to your own store

Marketplaces brought volume, but the customer belongs to the platform and the fees keep rising.

We build your own store into a destination: product pages that answer what Amazon answered, and ads that bring new buyers in at a sensible cost.

Usual constraintLow direct traffic, weak brand search
First 90 daysStore conversion, brand campaigns, email capture

The juggle

Several stores, one team

Multiple storefronts mean duplicated effort, competing campaigns and reports nobody can compare.

I set one growth framework across the group, so each store keeps its own audience while learnings and budgets move to wherever they work hardest.

Usual constraintFragmented data, overlapping spend
First 90 daysUnified tracking, per-store priorities

The story

High value, longer decisions

When orders are considered purchases, discounting damages the brand and cheap traffic rarely converts.

We build the case for the product instead: craftsmanship in the creative, detail on the page, and nurture flows for people who need time to decide.

Usual constraintLong consideration, low urgency
First 90 daysCreative strategy, PDP depth, nurture flows

The UK retail year

Plan the year, not just the month.

The big UK trading moments are predictable. The brands that win them test their creative weeks before.

  1. JanuarySales & resets

Clearance traffic is cheap; use it to build your email list, not just shift stock.

  2. February – MarchValentine’s & Mothering Sunday

Two gifting peaks close together. Delivery cut-off dates sell.

  3. SpringEaster & new season

A natural point to refresh creative and product pages.

  4. SummerThe quiet test window

Lower competition: the best time to run conversion tests.

  5. NovemberBlack Friday & Cyber Monday

Decide your margin floor before you decide your discount.

  6. DecemberChristmas & Boxing Day

Last-order dates drive urgency honestly; Boxing Day restarts the cycle.

Planning note: we work backwards from each peak — creative tested six to eight weeks ahead, offers agreed against margin, and stock and courier capacity confirmed before budgets rise.

Questions UK founders ask me

Straight answers.

Do you replace my current agency?

Not necessarily. Some clients keep their channel agency and use me to set priorities and hold the whole journey to account. Others move channels to my team. We decide together after the first call.

Do I need to be on Shopify?

No. My team works with Shopify, WooCommerce and Adobe Commerce / Magento.

How do UK hours work with a team in Lahore?

Lahore is four to five hours ahead, so your working day overlaps our afternoon and evening. Pick a call time on the booking calendar and it shows in UK time.

Who owns the ad accounts and data?

You do. Everything stays in your name; we are given access, never ownership.

What does a monthly report look like?

Short. What we changed, why, what happened, and the decision we recommend next. No 40-slide decks.

Is there a lock-in?

A 3-month starting term, then month to month. Enough time to test properly, no long contract.
